Hello, I’m Mayor John Rodriguez and on behalf of Council and our citizens I would like to welcome you and your family to the City of Greater Sudbury!

I immigrated to Canada in 1956 from Guyana, South America and know firsthand how moving to both to a new country and a new city can be exciting and anxious.  Allow me to assure you that Greater Sudbury is a cultural mosaic community that embraces diversity.  As a bilingual city with a rich francophone heritage and a historical aboriginal experience, we celebrate our cultural diversity in our schools, restaurants, places of worship, festivals, events and more. 

Greater Sudbury is considered an urban jewel set amidst the natural beauty of the lakes and forests in the heart of Northeastern Ontario.  We believe that the influence of our first settlers, individuals and groups from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, have contributed to the success of our city and I invite you to be a part of that success!
